Why the World Belongs to the Organized
“The reality is, that for us to be the salt and light and change agents in our world, prayer ALONE is not enough. Even if we have excelled at organizing prayer, eventually you discover that even that is still not always enough. There are nations all over the world with churches and bodies of believers that gather and pray for days and nights on end, maybe with greater fervency than you or I have ever prayed. Yet, many of those same countries are riddled with systemic corruption and poverty, and more. All because of the church’s inability to get organized in a way where righteousness is organized, and righteous principles become enforced, to the degree that they are systemic in that nation.”

In a recent article I wrote for this series, I gave a quote from an unknown source that many expressed was very eye opening. The quote was as follows:
“When men with moral values refuse to come together and be organized, they will pay the price for it by enduring the rule of the worst men.”
I think it goes without saying that while we are on earth as human beings, we are subject to natural laws, yet can also access spiritual laws. That means that even an unbeliever who does not pray to anyone, can still excel in life simply by adhering to the natural laws of life. History has taught us this, and we can see it all around us. The reality is in the “earth realm” far too often it is the unbelievers who are the “head and not the tail!” We can see this truth in scriptures like the following:
The Heaven’s are the LORD’s, but the earth He has given to the human race. Psalm 115:16
And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built. And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them”. Genesis 11:5-6
Especially in this passage of scripture in Genesis we can see the power of what people can do when they come together and are organized. Unfortunately this project of the “Tower of Babel” was a work of “organized corruption” for the sake of unrighteousness. As you know the story, God had a the final word, having to cause them to be “disorganized” to halt the evil work they were doing. Nevertheless in the realm of mankind the principle of organization is powerful, and often times even trumps prayer. Thank God the principle of organization is a principle that works for the unbeliever and for the believer too! The righteous can also exercise “organized righteousness” to enforce values or create change in any society.
Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
Principle: Righteousness within a nation
must be organized to be enforced.
In fact, we could almost say that other than God’s divine intervention, the world really does belong to the disciplined, and the organized. After all, this should be no surprise to us as believers, because contrary to some religious beliefs, God is a HIGHLY organized, systematic and strategic God! He is the ultimate CEO, and He wants you and I to function like Him in the earth and in the realm of natural laws and principles – not just spiritual.
Let’s look at another scripture from one of the “wisdom” books, Proverbs.
The fallow ground of the poor would yield much food, but it is swept away through injustice. Proverbs 13:23
Maybe you have read this scripture before but never quite understood it. This is a principle and it is truth. It is a principle that applies to everyone “under the sun.” Male and female, whatever race, nationality or religion. It is a law of life. What is actually being said here?
This proverb is saying that even the fallow ground of the poor could produce much! Much prosperity and success can be accessed by even the poor! Essentially, this scripture is saying that fruitfulness, prosperity, success, is really available to everyone – except, it is often swept away by injustice! “Injustice” in God’s eyes is synonymous with “disorganization.” When God looks at the earth and sees “injustice” He sees the earth as chaotic or disorganized – not in order. In fact any injustice that is taking place on the earth, is troubling to God, and it is His desire for us to put it into order! Not just pray for Him to put it in order. In the same way, God actually sees disorganization as a great injustice! God’s desire is for us as the supposed “head and not the tail” to be people of justice, people of organization. People who take chaos and put it into order. Why? This is not only God’s nature, but it is also the only way to rule and excel in the earth realm.
Principle: Even as a rich man, if you are not organized
you are actually poor, or will become poor.
You could paraphrase that scripture above maybe like this…
“Prosperity and success is available to anyone, no matter what religion, race, or status. But it can be swept away by disorganization.”
Far too often we as believers have exchanged abilities that God has given us, for prayers “begging” God to do what He has given us the ability to do! Have you ever wondered why it seems like the heathen prosper? This is because they do NOT depend on God to do on earth what they know they can do themselves. While often times believers place total dependency on God to do miracles on earth rather than us do it ourselves. When righteous people get organized and execute with excellence, this does not take away any glory from God. No! In fact, it enhances our testimony as knowing God. Using our brains, and being organized does not mean we are any less spiritual, no! On the contrary, using the tools our creator gave us only gives glory to God’s handiwork. This is why it is a sad gospel that teaches that the only way we as believers can excel on earth is to pray, and pray only. Maybe we are beginning to understand why so many believers have been the tail, and not the head.
Principle: Prayer, is not a license to be disorganized
when it comes to earthly laws and principles.
Ecclesiastes 10:7 says, “I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking on the ground like slaves.”
This amazing glimpse through the eyes of wisdom shows us an “evil under the sun.” For God it is such an injustice to see his people (princes) walking through life like slaves, while slaves (the unrighteous) riding horses all because of what they know or how organized or resourceful they are. I think you and I could agree that we can see this far too often today. The sad part too is that God’s principles to rule and excel on earth are available to everyone, especially believers. Yet we often will neglect the study of those principles and earthly wisdom in the name of “spirituality.”
Thank God for great biblical heroes like Daniel who excelled in both spiritual wisdom, and also the wisdom of the society of that day. This combination caused him to be promoted and to rule! I can’t imagine what would have happened if Daniel was only an intercessor but did not know how to organize his life let alone the organizations that were put under his authority. He certainly wouldn’t have lasted long as a leader in the nation. And the same goes for Joseph. Joseph wasn’t made Prime Minister of the country just because he had good moral values and a strong prayer life. I am certain he knew a little bit about national transformation and organizing a nation’s economy. Maybe your calling is not to be the Prime Minister of the country, but I assure you, we are all called to excel in our own sphere. We are all called to be the “head and not the tail.”
The reality is, that for us to be the salt and light and change agents in our world, prayer ALONE is not enough. Even if we have excelled at organizing prayer, eventually you discover that even that is still not enough. There are nations all over the world with churches and bodies of believers that gather and pray for days and nights on end, maybe with greater fervency than you or I have ever prayed. Yet, many of those same counties are riddled with systemic corruption and poverty, and more. All because of the church’s inability to get organized in a way where righteousness is organized, and righteous principles become enforced, to the degree that they are systemic in that nation.
You see, we must also excel in the practical earthly understanding of the laws and principles that govern life. He who understands the laws and principles of a sphere of influence and excels in adhering to them will rule – no matter what religion he or she is. For us as believers, we actually SHOULD have the advantage! We can do the bare minimum that the heathen do to win in life, and apply spiritual practice and principles to our lives as well! We can be the Daniel’s of our day, the Bill Gates’ or the Steve Jobs’. We can do this with excellence in our sphere no matter how big or small a part God has called us to play. This principle applies to everyone and in every sphere “under the sun.”
I also tell our leadership team and staff the following…
“Work, as if it all depends on you, but also pray, as if it all depends on God.”
For the strength of Canada…
